This is taken with Bob's telephoto lens and then blown up again. We must be quite a distance away.
We are visiting Alaska for a second visit. Our first visit was in 2002 with friends, Oak and Shirley Grant from Jacksonville. We invited ourselves to go with them when they told us they were returning this fall. They are world class cruisers with many, many days at sea. We enjoy spending time together on the few occasions we go with them. Hope you enjoy following us on our journey.

Finally, a real glacier
We are at the end of the passage and there is the glacier. They tell us there are seals all over the ice, but we don't see them with the naked eye. This is the Dawes Glacier, named after the 30th Vice President of the US-- under Calvin Coolidge. The glacier is 1/2 mile wide, 25 miles long, and 175 feet. above the water line. We don't have an answer yet about the " black tracks".
