Icy Strait Point: II

After our bus ride, we walk on an elevated platform through a bog to reach the river.  We are not disappointed as we reach the viewing platform, there are 2 bears fishing for salmon in the river.

He is successful numerous times.  The other bear, a cub, keeps his distance several hundred yards downstream.

After several " catch and eats " in the stream, he decides to rest on the riverbank and eat this catch.  You have to trust us that he does have a fish.  Our guide, Kimberly, tells us she has been out to this same platform around 9:00 PM at night and has seen as many as 10 Bears fishing in these salmon rich waters.

  1. Any input on that white 'collar' of fur around the bear's neck? I've never seen that.
